  1. AWS CloudFormation

AWS's IaC service: declare resources in a JSON/YAML template; CloudFormation provisions and manages them as a stack.

  2. CloudFormation stacks

A collection of AWS resources managed as a single unit — create, update, or delete them together from one template.

  3. Change sets

A preview of how a proposed CloudFormation update will affect running resources before you execute it — reduces risky surprises.

  4. CloudFormation template anatomy

Sections include Parameters (inputs), Conditions, Resources (required), Mappings, and Outputs (returned values).

  5. AWS Elastic Beanstalk

A PaaS that deploys and manages your application (capacity, load balancing, scaling, health) from uploaded code — you focus on the app.

  6. Beanstalk web vs worker environment

Web server environment handles HTTP requests; worker environment processes background jobs from an SQS queue.

  7. Benefits of IaC

Reusability, repeatability, version control, and safe automated updates — eliminating manual, error-prone configuration.
